Years ago, when Sears & Roebuck used to print a foriegn auto parts catalog, I would use their STOCK numbers as a guide to parts that were interchangeable between various european auto manufacturers. It was surprising how many of the same component parts wound up in Italian, German, Sweedish, French & English cars.

An amusing note was that, using the catalog as a guide, I found that a starter for the automatic-stick-shift VW was the same as for my 912 Porsche. The prich for a used 912 starter at the local junk yard was 2-3 times the price of athe VW.

Today, I would think that the junk dealers internet sites probably have the capability to readily cross ref parts.
That doesn't really leave many more cross-referenced parts -

Trunk latch is reported to be Type 3 too; door handles are custom/repro; front headlights are pre 67 bug/bus; front turn are 18 wheeler universal clearance lights (made by Signal STAT) but pre-67 VW Ghia front turn or 59-63 AH Sprite/3000 glass ones work too (either clear or amber lenses available; early AH Sprite/3000 (also used on Triumph) round glass lenses can also be used for the '55 Speedster look rear lights - as they come in red and amber); inside rear mirror can be 64-74 MGB (Sprite/Midget too).
