www.partsobsolete.com/events.htm

Their website has been inactive or down somewhat for awhile now, but the information available is still good. It's another great event: lots of beer, barbque and very nice people not to mention that there are 30 or 40 beautiful cars. Henry from IM has committed to being there as well.

Scott,

Hope to have my Speedy up again after the transplant and I am planning to be there. Rick from Chilliwick, hey, that rhymes, is coming and some of the NoCal guys are talking about coming so maybe we can reminise about Knotts.

Scott, decide on an exterior color yet? Can't wait to see that rascal, hope it will be done for Parts Obsolete. Deciding about tenting or moteling. Tenting may prove to be fun but the weather man will decide!

Scott,
Just got home from the Knotts adventure and already planning on the Campout. My wife and I will be there for sure. Camping is out but we've booked at the Red Lion only a couple of miles away. Bruce, hope you make it up there. Dale Bates was also talking about maybe making the drive. Look forward to meeting some more new Speedster friends and hope that long distace is more that 6 hours away, cause that's all I have to drive this time..........yippee!
"saddle sore in Chilliwack" Rick
Rick and all,

John Steele called today while I was out and said my new engine goes in probably on Monday. Looks like Parts Obsolete for sure now. Rick, I think I'm going to plan on the tent trick but if it looks inclement for the weekend then the hotel is the way I'm going. Will be watching the long range weather. Last year I was there on Sunday for the swap and weather was fine and dandy. I'll be there!

Bruce
I am so ready for another drive. It is about 8 hours from the Sacramento area so I am thinking a leisurely 2 day drive, stopping in Medford Thursday afternoon and driving into Mckminnvile on Friday. Also since the Michele will most likely be going, and knowing she likes to tour, I am looking at planning a 4 hour semi-loop drive out to the Oregon coast at Nestucca Spit State Park then north through Cape Lookout State Park and the 3 Capes Scenic Drive (one of the best in Oregon, pacificcity.org/3capes/drive.html). Then heading back south through Tillamook, Beaver, cloverdale. Ive never done the drive but it looks very nice. Any one is welcome and any suggestions would be welcome. Looking forward to seeing a lot of you again. And it will be cool in Oregon, my nose won't scab over.

Dale,

If you plan on staying in and around Medford on your way to McMinneville, Barb and I would like to have dinner with you guys. There are a couple of good resturants here that we could enjoy.

Talked to John Steele this morning and he will have the new engine tomorrow and installed and debugged by next week and then ship it up here on Hog Haulers. The hog guys probably don't need directions this time, hopefully the last. Soooo, it looks like I'll have my Speedy ready in time for Parts Obsolete!

Bruce
Bruce, your nose took a beating going to Knotts but if the weather is as nice in the N.W. as it is now, bring lots of SPF 50! Otherwise some SPF minus 50 with artificial brown tint will let you tan even under cloudy skys. Looking forward to sharing some lies and Molson Canadians!
Rick
Man, I wish I could make it down there, but at the current rate things are going there is no way I will have paint, engine running and interior done by then. Free time with a 2 year old is few and far between. Next year for sure though.

If anyone is passing through Seattle and wants to swing by and check out my progress you are more then welcome. I'm just off I-5 by Northgate mall in Seattle.
Dale,

It's a date. Yeah, funny the old engine had the Berg crank and on the trip down 5 it was really starting to get broken in when the oil line burned and the Engine grenaded. John Steele promises it won't do the same as the old. Run as well but no engine blow this time. As I said before it was the fault of the shop up here in Medford, rerouted and replaced the oil hoses, got 'em too close to the header, yikes.

In any case it looks like I may have Speedy back in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to the run up and back from Parts Obsolete. There are so many great roads aound here that I think I'll take some back roads from Eagle Point to Canyonville, then 5 to Eugene and pick up 99W to just south of McMinnevile, Amity, to be specific and then NE a few miles to P.O. The 99W from Eugene to Amity is so nice, not much traffic and small towns, orchards, fruit stands, wineries, good Speedy cruising territory. Hope the weather is good. Your trip on the Coast sounds good, can't find a bad mile on the Oregon coast, anywhere!

We'll be in touch, Bruce
