Paul and I got back last night and had a great road trip. The direct route from my place is a 1300 mile round trip. We managed to squeeze it out to a 1600 mile tour. 62 gallons of Premium gas, less than a quart of oil, and no mechanically required stops.

If you live in an area and can get to the campout next year, I'd recommend it highly. Great group of guys.

I posted several pictures of Paul and my trip, I have a lot more outlaw pics but that is not why we went. It was about friends and fun, both of which were in abundance. A real group of Party folks, as the picture shows.

It was a bit cool, check the pic of Paul's driving lights for proof positive.

Paul, was people choiced at second in the outlaw/race car class. Angela's spyder was first in the open car class.

That was a really good event. Great cars good setting and friendly relaxed people. I think that I would camp next time just to meet more of them.

Dale / Paul: I apologize for leaving during the slide show. Heather had reached the end of her rope with her cold. The shots of the 57 with bee hives and then updated to the tear drops had cease to fascinate her.

The drive home was enjoyable even with the rain on Monday. I recommend Highway 22 out to the 101. The 22 was the best bit of driving all weekend. Next year I will take an extra day coming down and stay off the I5 entirely.

Bruce,
Any chance you and Heather could come down for the Southern Oregon Tour? Bruce Williams organized it last year and it was really fun. Great driving roads. TAke the coast highway down, turn on 199 to Grants Pass and avoid I-5 (which only becomes more disgusting with every southbound mile)altogether. Then we'll take you guys 'round the backroads where we live. Light traffic, good pavement, wineries, hopefully fall leaves this year and usually flawless weather.

Hey,

Do I hear some interest for another Southern Oregon Tour? Hmmmm!

Steve and Angela, congrats again on the first place trophy and the continual crowds around the Spyder all weekend. Ray and I reached Medford around 1 PM on Sunday. I sure got a case of sunburn to show for the trip but no problems with Speedy the entire weekend. Great time, great cars and above all great people. I'll try and post a few pics later today.

Ray, we have a lot more roads around here that are equal to the Canyonville road.

Let me take a poll on interest in a 2nd annual Southern Oregon Tour, great roads, wineries, great people, etc, etc. This would probably be late September, early October.

Anybody showing interest indicate so here. Maybe what I should do is open up a seperate thread on the events page. I will do that right now and vote if interested!

Hey you guys did find time to check out the air-cooled Porsche tractor didn't you? It was REALLY cool!

The best thing about Parts Obsolete (besides the company) is the chance to see something hanging out there in the grass that you might never see again in real life.

Porsche tractor, a real 906, a pair of soft window 912 targas to go with the brace of soft window 911 targas, and just about one of every type of 356 ever made. And my personal favorite, the Emory Special (356 outlaw with the 4 cylinder 911 motor - OUTRAGEOUS).

See everybody next year.
