Great news! After some problems (the park had been given to another group) the Paso Downtown Commission has finally decided they want us back and have given us the park area that we have had in the past.

The date is April 26.

Rooms are blocked out at two hotels:
1. Adelaide Inn, 1214 Ysabel Street, Paso Robles
phone: (805) 238-2770
rates: $85 to $125
Be sure to mention the SPEEDSTER OWNERS GROUP for the rate

2. Holiday Inn Express, 2455 Riverside Ave, Paso Robles
phone: (805) 238-6500
rate: $140 (includes breakfast, pool & excercise area)
Be sure to mention the SPEEDSTER OWNERS GROUP for the rate

All reservations MUST be made by March 15. We are using two hotels because these arrangements have been made so late. I have thoroughly checked and there are absolutely no more rooms in Paso Robles that weekend. It seems there are lots of events going on that weekend.

I am now working on setting up a restaurant for our dinner on Saturday evening and a breakfast on Sunday morning. Locals have volunteered to establish a Friday afternoon wine tour. Also, I am trying to establish some indoor tours/activities in case the weather decides not to cooperate. I will post details as they become solid.

There you have it! Set your calendars, call in your reservations and get ready for a grand time.

Happy Trails,
Dusty and the Elated Miss Sharon

Vince,
The BBQ last year was a bit difficult with the wind and cold. We don't wish to chance that again. Mostly there was a rather large economic deficit caused at the BBQ and we don't have any way to cover that this year.

My plan is to find a restaurant, with bar, that will give us a room or large area to ourselves which will allow the mixing with each other that we all look forward to.

Trust me, I am doing as much as I can to make this work out great.

Happy Trails,
Dusty
Dusty (et al) -

There are quite a few events happening in that area on the same weekend as SOC's. In fact, there will be a whole BUNCH of 356's at the annual 356-Club North/South gathering in San Luis Obispo, about 25 miles south of Paso Robles. For those looking for that hard-to-find part/accessory, they usually have a P-car swap meet on Sunday....I'm just saying...!

This 356 group is pretty cool. I had a '57 356-1600/Super when I was a club member (circa 1975) and started going to these North/South meets when they started it in the late '80s.
Jim,
is this something our group would like to go to? Anybody out there have an opinion? Perhaps we need to have an early breakfast and caravan down to the swap meet? What time does it open? If this is something enough wish to do we can certainly make it part of the event. I checked and it is only 27 miles, so an easy drive.

Let me know.

Dusty
Oh good heavens DONT tell Steve about the swapmeet... I swear that man can shop me into exhaustion. At a big swap meet, like the one at Hot August Nights in Reno - Steve will spend 8-10 hours shopping...

Of course, whatever he buys he has to get home in either the spyder or the cabby so that could prove to be a limiting factor. We once went to the Parts Obsolete swapmeet on the motorcycles. Steve's just shopping away. Hey handsome husband - how the heck are you going to get THAT home on the motorbikes? Even at that we had back packs full of little bits and pieces.

Dusty thanks for getting on this. I love the people in Paso and the location. It's only the awful weather that I went thru getting there and returning that dampened my enthusiasm for another April trip. Regardless, we are looking forward to seeing you and the Lovely Miss Sharon.

Regarding the 356 North/South meet. As I posted earlier:

Will,
The North/South meet is open to all to walk around and enjoy the real 356s.
It is no longer open to replicas. They were voted "off the island" this year.
Although the group Dale and I belong to up here by Sacramento (356CAR, Alta Region) accept and enjoy the company of the plastic persuasion, the Central and Southern chapters do not.

Still worth a visit, just park your plastic outside.]

I know a lot of my friends will be there, and it's definitely worth checking out the cars.
Certainly an option for some.
Bruce -- Don't need to rain dance as long as MUSBJIM arrives "domed". You'll notice in the picture that the pavement is totally dry anywhere this setup travels. It's so ugly, it scares the rain right back into the sky.

However, a nifty blue Paso-certified-custom-spyder-car-cover is always handy to have. Maybe ONE could be for sale this year.

Maybe.
Hi Everyone,

I can't believe it is that time again!

We are in! I just made a reservation for my hubby and me and my parents. Adelaine was full, so we are at Holiday in Express.

Dusty, Dad and I want you to know if you need ANY help on our end, we would be glad to lend a hand. Give us a job and we will run with it.

Can't Wait!!!!!
