It's Friday evening, left San Simeon about 11:00 this morning, spent some time visiting Gerddddd who was frolicking with the rest of the elephant seals...

arrived in Carmel to let my right seater do some window shopping while I sat on Ocean Blvd watching all the exotics pass....

short list:

2 Veyrons

1 California spyder Ferarri

007's Aston Martin

hundreds of misc ferarri's

many many 911's

about a dozen 356's of various styles

all kinds of other exotics....

1 red 1957 T-Bird

I will have pic's once I return to SoCal...

tomorrow is Laguna Seca for races (may never leave the parking lot

if it's still the way it used to be)

El Diablo reporting from Monterey......

Vince.

Hopefully you hung out on Ocean blvd until around 6:30 when all the cars from the Pacific Grove show drove through.  I have GoPro video of the entire 1 hour drive and I'll get it posted asap.

It was another great show only spoiled by the fact that I lost my $350 prescription glasses.

I didn't stay for the dinner this time, had to head home and get packed for the big move, but it was great seeing Rick and the other Spyder guys and SternArt with his Citron.

By the way.  Note for next year, PRE-REGISTER.  I didn't register in advance and they only had 20 slots left for those who did not prereg.  I got the very last slot and there were a lot of disappointed guys behind me.

I did see the parade of cars pass on Ocean...quite a spectacle...

the town was gridlocked....funny thing, my T-Bird got quite a charge

from the crowd.... million dollar Veyrons, and I get cheers for the Bird....

I never pre-register for anything because I never know what I want to do

in advance, I have an issue with crowds, I'll turn & run if it gets to confining for me...

one of my PTSD things...

Here's the video of the drive.  It's one hour long, so feel free to jump around in it.  The big spectator crowds are at the beginning and near the end.

I have no idea why the GoPro makes my car sound weird at idle, it doesn't sound that way when I am driving it, but it sure sounds nice on acceleration!

Click the little gear icon at the bottom of the YouTube window and change it to 1080P for HD for the best picture.

Just got back from Mazda raceway, (Laguna Seca) long day at the track...

spent most of the time in the paddock of course, caught a lot of the afternoon races.. lots of porsche's, 356's were well represented....

didn't realize how worn out you get in the sun all day...perfect day at the races....

Pebble Beach tomorrow, 17 mile drive...concours cost 250.00 ea to enter, will decide

at the enterance if I want to pony up the bucks...

road trip continues in the AM....

Troy, cool video. Looks like a great way to spend the afternoon cruising around Pacific Grove. Too much fun!

WRT engine sound at idle/decelleration (?), consider this; your GoPro is attached just above the engine compartment with a suction cup, so its acting like a stethescope as far as picking up sound. I had a similar experience with my camera/car and after close inspection, I found that my cooling fan was less than perfect (had a few loose vanes). I never heard the noise otherwise masked by sound of engine (accellerating). This resulting noise was picked up by my suction-attached camera. I replaced the fan (with German replacement part), did a trial run with camera and voila, noise was eliminated. Just a thought...

Hey it was cool to meet Troy & talk cars.......some Spyder owners too, as before the Rally started there are a few hours to kill on the street talking to folks.  I had a few couples interested in buying my Citroen, it will be interesting to see if they follow through. I was chasing a Ford GT 40, and for awhile had a matching pair of VW buses following me. A great array of cars run in this event. The Pacific Grove rally is definitely fun, my +1 lady friend was hooting and hollering back at the crowds, she had a blast. My only complaint, it was darn cold by the coast there, like driving into an air conditioned cloud, it was nice until the winds really picked up, and then it was fine again once we got rolling.

I too was at Laguna Seca on Sat. I've never seen that many Cobras in one place before,

aside from being featured, with Shelby passing on recently, they were out in force.  Great 50's and 60's cars......so many unique owner built race cars too.....I lose interest once they start putting wings on them.  Loud & hot in the sun.....like Vinny says it does wear you out.

In Santa Cruz for the night...Visiting friends that live here....

Got turned away at the enterance to 17 mile drive...it was closed for the day...

Disappointed, but we had seen it a few times before, so no great loss, could have continued if I wanted to pay the 500.00 to see the Concours...I'm a frigging Judge

at these things in SoCal, so i figure no big deal....ended up here in Santa Cruz,

"SURF CITY"  spending more time than expected with my friends...

Heading back south tomorrow in the AM....

THAT CAR LOOKS SO AWESOME WITH HER IN IT AND U OUT OF THE PICTURE

Vince the way I do it is get there for the Thursday morning Pebble Beach tour.........it is free!

The folks that actually drive their cars from the Pebble Beach show drive down to Big Sur & back, parking for a few hours in Carmel.  They block off the street for about 3 blocks & maybe 100 top drawer cars & the owners stop there for a lunch.  You can talk to the owners as they pull up, etc.  Starts about 11AM on Thursday. Some amazing rides & the price is right!  On Friday the Porsche, Mercedes & BMW clubs have their Concours in Carmel Valley & that is free too if you park out on Carmel Valley Rd.  If you park in the lot $10.00......always some fine rides there too.  I went from there to the Pacific Grove Rally where I met up with Troy. I try to go to the free stuff. Even the auctions you need to buy a catalog to get in.
