Yes. My first IM and new Speedster both have early 901 5-speeds. clutch effort will be lighter as the 901's release lever arm is longer than the stock VW one.
George, thanks for the info. Hopefully, this is the last PITA part of my assembly. After this is some wiring, piping and trim work - then the shakedown run. I just hope there isn't too much "shake" in the first run.
Just a quick note...901 tranny linkage can be a hassle in that it tends to be like an old VW Bus shifter kinda like a mystery shifter..."where's a gear" ...there are a couple of "fixes" posted on Porsche sites inclusive of one chap who has redesigned the shifter assembly
