OK, I have a 2001 Vintage. The pedal covers were shot so I ordered the EMPI ones with the horizontal rubber from Cp1 (EMPI). They have simple tinlike tabs that bend around the existing metal pedals. Look great, but keep just coming off with pressure on the clutch or brakes. Any ideas? I now that they are cheap, but on Vintages, the clutch pedal is bigger than a VW and bigger than the brake.

Ideas? The gas pedal if fine. The brake needs to be straightened out every drive and clutch is a hazard.

Ah common. I didn't order the OTHER EMPI ones (see pix)..........I have been trying to find some that fit the clutch pedal. It is bigger than the brake (sideways) so I have no idea where the pedal assembly came from. I don't want to grind down the metal pedal so I am trying to find some that fit well.

Fred,
I got a set but have not taken the time to install yet. There are some expensive one out there but Cary suggested this inexpensive set.

Sorry it looks out of stock right now but worth the wait.
Just have to get upside down and drill like a maniac in a very tight spot. These pedals attach with screws, that should solve your floppy pedal problem. Maybe I will install mine this weekend, or go for a drive instead.

Cheers

AUTO GOOP ! ! !

It's the answer for everything. Hit the hardware store and grab up a tube. If you wanna save 30 cents, get Household Goop, it's the same stuff in a different colored tube. If you wanna split the price between the two, get some Plumber's Goop. Again, same ol' stuff in yet another colored tube.

Clean the pedal surface well with thinner or acetone, squeeze on a nice circle of Goop, stick the pedal cover over it and use some tape to make sure. Place some newspaper under the assembly in case the Goop drips a bit and wait two days.

You'll never get the pedal cover off again ! ! !

Goop is holding a good two thirds of my Ghia together and most of my house as well. The stuff is amazing, applies like silicone, but holds like a slightly flexible epoxy.

Loose shift knob? GOOP IT !!
Wobbly mirror? GOOP IT !!!
Vinyl Siding come adrift? GOOP IT !!!!
Seat cover frayed, torn or working lose? GOOP IT !!!!!

Sometimes I just like to Goop my fingers together and pretend that I'm a seal . . .
