banner day here - got my speedster back from her 1st tune-up at altitude! surprised that she got a clean bill of health despite being cooped up for 5 years. my mechanic mentioned moving the fuel pump from the engine compartment to the front just under the tank. anyone comments from the peanut gallery on that?

another big day tomorrow - hoping to get her registered & fully legal. fitting day for it as tomorrow would have been my dad's 69th birthday. it was nice driving her home from the shop today in tip-top shape...although it began to rain so we went straight from the shop into the garage again!

Welcome to the SOC Lisa...by the way Pee Wee's Big Adventure is one of my favorite movies, believe it or not. And in case someone disagrees, there's a quote that says "Definition of a geek: Someone who wonders why Pee Wee Herman is funny".

Anyway, I'm glad you're taking care and enjoying part of your dad's legacy. May you drive it and enjoy it for years to come. You couldn't have chosen a better website than this one. As you'll soon find out if you stick around, this is a group of great and helpful guys so feel free to ask any questions regarding your car and you're sure to find answers here.
Lisa, great story about inheriting the car from your dad. Enjoy it! I'd say your mechanic's recommendation to move the fuel pump up front under the tank is excellent, I'd add; put the fuel filter up there too, in line ahead of the pump, and replace all old rubber fuel hose with new. And keep a fire extinguisher handy in the car at all times. Did your mechanic inspect the brakes? Enjoy this site too (aside from the idiotic personality flareups) most all the info you need can be found here by searching old posts and the knowledge section.
Lisa,
Welcome to the SOC, This site provides everything you will ever need to know about speedsters and/or air cooled motors, unfortunatly you won't get any of that information from me, I am one of this sites hooligans which Greg aluded to in his previous post.
You could say I provide the entertainment while your reading the boring stuff on "how to" do this or that....Nonetheless, I would still like to welcome you aboard.
Just ignore the horns on my happy face, Halloween is right around the corner, and I want to get an early start.....TRICK OR TREAT
