There are two distant speedster events scheduled for
September 18-20th (Nats) and the Dragon Tour on October 10 - 12th in Tennessee.

Work and family schedules sometimes make it difficult to participate in distant events so, I have been seriously kicking around the idea of a local one day tour set here in my neck of the hills and back country roads of South Central PA. The projected date would be Saturday October 11th with a rain date the next day, Sunday the 12th.
A light continental breakfast would be here at the........
"Merklin Motor Craft & Casa"
from 9:30-10:30 AM, We'll then head off for a 2-1/2 to 3 hour run through the back roads twisties and hills with a couple of stops along the way.
We'll end at "Dilly's" a local restaurant Kim and I frequent for their quaint covered outside deck area, terrific menu and reasonable fare.

If there is enough interest, I'll get the planned tour route from paper to a test run.

Your thoughts?

~Alan

Tom:

I'm still working on logistics. Things get REALLY busy for me with volunteer work when I get back to Beaufort, especially with newly returning wounded Marines from the area, so I'm still up in the air. Should know for sure in two weeks, then I'll post something one way or the other.

The good news is that the car is running well and is almost ready to go - Might need a 4-wheel alignment since I've been messing with it, but I know a guy in the area there, whom I trust to handle it.

I'm in. I'll look at the map and see what you have up. Do you work out a specific route, or sort of just wing it? The reason to ask is that maybe the breakfast in AM at your place might be hard to make, but hooking up along the route seems quite doable. I've been thinking of a NoVa sort of thing about the same time (a day trip, or maybe one overnight) that I would do all by myself if nobody else was interested. I have not gone public w/ this idea yet, so it is still "under advisement". Right-seater gets a vote. The VA hunt coutry (Leesburg, etc.) and the Blue Ridge foot hills is what I am thinking about. Lots of cool roads thereabouts.

Recap of the Fall PA. Tour is scheduled for Saturday October 11th with a rain date of Sunday the 12th.....

The itinerary is to meet here at my home for a light continental breakfast and gab session, we'll then head out for a 2.5 hour cruise into the picturesque farmlands, hills and valleys ending at Dilly's restaurant in downtown Chambersburg for a mid-afternoon lunch.

I encourage you to bring along your right seater and introduce them to the local speedster owners.!

Please reply via email (drclockatpa.net)to let me know a head count. Should there be a weather cancellation an email will be sent on Saturday 10/11 by 7:00AM.

Just got back from plotting and running the Pa. Fall Cruise.
Really nice roads with terrific countryside scenery, twists and turns as well as places to run a bit hard.
The cruise time is approx: 2:20 and does goes quickly.
Be sure to top off your gas tank in Chambersburg before arriving at the Merklin Casa. We'll head out to Dilly's after the cruise.

See details in the first post.

Looking forward to Saturday the 12th !
