...and headed to her new home in Salt Lake City.

Her new owner is a great guy. Jeff has signed up here now. Hopefully he will start posting here soon and share his unique story on how he trailed her home.

A bittersweet moment, for sure, but I was granted visitation rights whenever I'm in Salt Lake.

It just so happens that my daughter lives in Salt Lake...

Visit your daughter, visit Salt Lake, but maybe just let the car go.

About a dozen years after I left home and my folks had sold the house, I found myself back in Philly once with an afternoon to kill. I drove by the old place and the new owners noticed me taking some photos. My dad's old landscaping had been mostly torn out and redone.

They asked if I wanted to come in and look around, but I politely declined.

Like sleeping dogs, warm and fuzzy memories are probably best left undisturbed.

My parents sold the house they bought 5 up from Lake Ontario in 1962 for $13000.

Fine side split it was and they raised 5 great kids in it, me being the youngest. They sold it in 2005 for $450,000 and the new owner took out a few walls (ubiquitous open concept) re-did the kitchen and sold it for $780,000 a year later. The new buyer knocked it down and built a McMansion on it and sold it for $3,200,000

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess ....

The changes the second owner made for fabulous....but my Dad would never go see it.

I really don't have an issue with someone else owning Penny. I never really owned her, I guess. Penny has her own entity, I was merely along for the ride...and the repairs and modifications. Watching her pull away on the trailer I was like, "I'm sad to see her go" and, at the same time, "Wow! What a gorgeous car!".

I will visit and enjoy hearing about the adventures of Penny and her new rider.

When my parents moved to Fresno from Germany in the late 60’s they bought a tract home and we lived there until 1977. It was the house I felt a strong connection to because it was the first house I remembered living in. I’d drive by every now and then and look at the house. It was never in the same condition after we left. It always seemed to be a little more run down every time I saw it. It made me sad. Then one day I helped serve a search warrant at the house. That was the end. I’ve never driven by it again.
