Wife and I were cruising in Grove, Oklahoma yesterday. As we went up a hill in the business district, I felt the accelerator pedal go to the floor and the engine drop to an idle. Idle would not pull the hill so I killed the engine and backed down the hill (in traffic) to the KFC parking lot. People saw I was in trouble and got over for me, but a man and his son pulled into the KFC and asked if we needed help. I told him my cable had come apart and I needed a small wrench and a hex key. He rummaged into the bed of his truck until we found a socket to remove the fitting so I could take it to Oreillys and get the right size hex. He then carried me there and returned me and the tool to the car. I was on my way again in twenty minutes. He tried to give me his ratchet and socket in case I needed it again. Wife tried to buy them something to drink while my head was in the engine bay and I tried to get them to let me buy their dinner, no way he said. What a great example to his son!
