Pertronix Igniter

Looking at these on JC Whitney I see several for what appear to be our cars. Most are dependent on Distributor. This one seems to be the most common #ZX073004B. Is this the correct one? I have a blue bosch coil.

The difference is whether you have a vacuum advance or a
centrifugal advance distributor. Order accordingly.

To add go with the Pertronix Ignitor II . It is an upgrade to the "Ignitor" and similar in cost.

If you go with the Pertronix II, don't you need to use their flamethrower coil as well, or is it just that if you use their coil you get an even better spark?

If you go with either Pertronix, be VERY careful when installing the black plastic sleeve that slides down over the cam. Don't just bang it on/push it on. It is a very tight fit and needs to go all the way down to seat correctly, The best way seems to be to put the ring in place and an old rotor on top of it and tap the rotor, to seat the ring.

Works great! Using a deep socket . . . works terribly . . . and splits the ring.

And, if you want the best, go with Aircooled Net's Mallory Unlite distibutor. I used a Unlite with a CD box on my 2110 and I was very impressed with the results. On the expensive side, but very nice.

Another option is the Mallory single-point mechanical distributor (with adjustable centrifugal advance limit) and a Pertronix to replace the points (the stock Mallory points tend to "bounce" above 6,000 RPM).
