Cool video. The owner keeps trying to explain the mystique around 356's and Speedsters in particular.
I've given up trying to do that. I think the cars just speak for themselves aesthetically. People are either drawn to them or they aren't.
Agreed - there's no explaining the appeal of these cars.
What still amazes me is the draw they seem to have on kids of all ages. I've had eight-year-olds dragging their embarrassed moms by the hand to look at 'the cool car'.
And I'm almost scared to drive past a high school when school is letting out because of the ruckus the car stirs up.
Maybe I should have gotten a Volvo.
When the weather is good and I only have to transport one of my twins to or from school I will take the Speedster. It gets more attention than the Tesla, new Porsches, old Citroen and the Ferrari Scaglietti (sp.?) that are usually in the lot.
You're right. Little kids seem to be especially drawn to 356's. It might be the friendly face it presents.
Cool video! Thanks for sharing the link.
Yup, best car ever to pick up the kids from school, one kid only though!
When I was a small child there were 2 vehicles that I thought were stupid. The Porsche 356 and the BMW motorcycle. Mommy why does that car look like a bathtub? Ha Ha. Mommy why does that motorcycle have cylinders sticking out the side? Ha Ha. Those things are stupid. But they got my attention. Couldn't take my eyes off of them back in the 60's and can't take my eyes off of them now.
