Last night I was ticketed $58 IMG_9813IMG_1586best shot, made betterfor having no Front License. I would like to see photos of Speedsters with front licenses so I get an idea of how to make a minimal impact on the looks of the car. Is there a page where I can see them, or is it possible for those of you with front licenses to post a photo I can see?

Damn po po!!   That's such a BS ticket its unreal..   While your getting a frivolous ticket there's a drug deal going on right down the street ...

  Carey suggestion is best..

Question:   Did you get a selfie with the officer like I did?

This was my first ticket in my car..    Thanks to my mechanic (not pointing fingers pat downs) who stated that my speedo may be off between 7-10 mph... We found out,  thanks to the California highway patrol , that its dead accurate.  lol lol............  "80" in a "65" Pismo Ca, first day of the west coast cruise in SLO..   I gladly gave a $250.00 donation.....

I don't have a picture but my bracket attaches to two small holes under the bumper with large washers on the inside (all hidden) and goes around the bumper and the liscence plate is located right in the middle of the bumper as well.  Should I want to remove it there are no holes to be seen unless you lay on the ground to look at the bumper ... .works for me.. many ways to skin a cat...

Bob and Michael....here I am.   Below are the photos of my prototype. Before I went to Baja I finished the welding JIG.  So when I return I can build a batch for sale. They will certainly cost less that that ticket you got on "Little Tub" Thanks to edsnova, the finished product will have magnets to hold the removable part of the bracket in place when installed. I have found that it's a "pain in the drain" to hold the mounting nuts in place so I will incorporate a couple welded-on nuts to the mounting tabs as well

I would not, and I'll wager most State Troopers wouldn't either.

Although, I'm pretty sure that for the better part of her adult life, Mrs. Galat could drive 95 mph through a school zone with no muffler, an expired tag, and an out-of-date insurance card, and not get so much as a stern warning. A pretty woman gets a total free pass to pretty much do whatever she wants in a vehicle.

I, on the other hand, once got a ticket for driving 9 mph over, through a town with 1000 people, in the middle of the night.

You are in a good place, as they say. Great photo, and I hear the pride in your voice for going so fast in one of these beauties.

On my previous Speedster (pictured here), I just made two L shaped brackets that bolted to the bottom of the bumper, and then attached the licence holder to them.  The plate then stood 'proud' of the bumper.  This is the best shot I have of that arrangement.

Thank you for the photo and reply......that looks about the best, although having the license hang  below the bumper seems better, but problems will arise when I drive into an inclined driveway.

bolt a VW rear license plate bracket right through the center of the rubber in then front bumper deco strip.  This way if you ever want to delete it, all you have to do is change one $30 piece of rubber and it looks good as new.

I can take pics of this tomorrow, I have several Speedsters in the shop done this way

Hi Carey, which one of these license plate holders are you suggesting?  Upper left, upper right etc?

I know that I am not Carey, but I would say any of the three that are not in the bag.  It all depends on were you want the placement of the plate, above the center of the bumper, below the center of the bumper or hanging about middle of the bumper.  Go with the Lower Right and you can drill new holes in your plate to place exactly where you want it.  Nice plate frame with bumper bolts in the 4 holes, than bumper bolts to hold it to the bracket.  Extra weight up front....hahaha...  This is IMHO.

I was thinking lower left for the same reason. Bolt through the rubber deco strip, attach the plate to the bracket by drilling two new holes in the top to bottom center of the plate, attach the plate to the bracket, and attach a nice frame to the four original holes in the plate.
