Greg, I was originally gong to use a fiberglass guy that was probably molded in the 70s, but it didn't quite fit. Shortly after it hit the bricks, I wound up making one that worked better with my overall roll cage scheme. The width measurement was something like 46 inches in order to make the bow upward; it would be the same if you wanted to flex it down instead. That would mimic a soft cover, but you'd have to massage it a bit with a rubber mallet to have any tensile strength at all.
You'd probably have to anchor it similarly to what I did, or rivet it to a rib and attach the rib to the posts which hold the frame for your convertible top.
The underside of my aluminum piece was the most difficult part to make. It took a few passes with the cutting wheel to make the angle flexible enough to complete the complex curves.
