I currently have an 009 distributor, but am planning to try a svda unit. My engine is pretty much stock 1600dp,, and seems pretty healthy. I was looking over the vacuum port, on my old Pict34, and discovered that it is currently connected back down to the intake manifold, just below the carb. What would the purpose of this be ?? It looks like it is probably stock hose and line being used.
Once the new svda goes in,, I will just block off the manifold vacuum port,, I would guess.
thanks,
Alan

Someone just kinda connected vacuum lines wherever they wanted on your engine. The timed vacuum port on the carb connects to the vacuum canister on your SVAD. That small tube on the manifold was originally meant to connect to the vacuum actuator on a semi-automatic transaxle car. Just fill it with JB Weld or place a tiny nipple over it with a bit of silicone to be safe.
