"Mickey - I'm trying to find my old pics with the various Porsches I've owned through the years. The kids always get a good laugh outta seeing my different stages of 'fro'ness! I'll post as I find them."

This got me to thinking...... I'm not one for pics of me and my cars (my cars are another thing), but that pic of Jim and what he said made me think of how much fun it would be for my girls when they're older to see me as a "youngster" with various toys (and hair styles) over the years. It's inspired me to get a few pics and stash them away for all to mock someday down the road.
I think it'd be fun to see some pics of you all in the "earlier years" with those bad ass Pintos and Vegas and mullets. ;)

Post away please.
(I seem to recall seeing a pic my folks took of me very early on with one of the prototypes I was working on. I'll see if I can't dig it up)

First, I admit the picture of me and Ginny with the 2 cars is pretty gay (O.K. - EXTREMELY GAY!!), but back then it was killing me that she was driving a Porsche and I wasn't. So I bought her the Mercedes 300SEL and switched cars & plates. The FJ0-40 pictured was a beast (fun).

Talk about the kids (and others) getting a good belly-laugh when they go through our old pics.

These are my first convertible and my first Porsche. I bought the TR-3 my senior year of High School for $300.00. The 64 C coupe I bought right before heading to college my first year. Both were bought with paper route money. I wish I still had the Triumph, the rusty 356 not so much. I still have the jeans, the shirt, and the surfboard, and about half the hair! My girlfriend's dad told me that he was horrified when I came to pick up his daughter. He described me as "The ultimate free love dude!" I tried to live up to that reputation as much as possible. The dude abides!

Here are a few pics of my rides and one of me looking for rides.

These were shot around 70-71 by Chrissa who still went on surf expeditions at the time. We did our own developing and printing then too.

I was driving a 58' MGA that I had fitted out with surf racks on the soft top and side curtains. Gotta find a pic of that setup.

I drove down to San Miguel, Baja many times (its located just before Ensenada. A very fine right that breaks into a jetty in very shallow water with a very rocky shore. An intense ride.

Keep it going guys.

Dave

the first picture is of my '66 bug at one of the Bug-Ins held at Orange County International Raceway....around 1973 i think....what i remember most about this car is that my girlfriend left me because i bought those Empi 5-spokes for it instead of getting her an engagment ring....

the second picture is late 70's of my 1960 bus....wish i still had that one...i have no comment whatsoever about the skin tight jeans and those short shorts !!

In 1978 the surf breaks where I grew up were getting crowded, so my surf club got serious about crowd control. This is a 1944 FORD M-20 with 6 cylinder Hercules engine, 6X6 drive, 48" stream fording ability, gets as many looks as a Speedster! Not mine, but I cruised in it a lot. It was legal, with Florida tags, correct mirrors, and a valid inspection sticker. We got pulled over about once a day, and the officers just knew that there was something wrong. Never got a citation though. I consider it the ultimate in Road Rage Conflict Resolution.

Well, Lane, you could use Bob's technique: take a picture of the picture. Now, I have a scanner, just have to get busy using it. And I have a basement full of pictures, mostly slides, during the years of apparent interest here. I'll work on it. My best immediatly available old shots are just the car, no me in there. I'll be back . . .

PS: Very cool thread here, and Will: you lived my dream, man. More power to ya. And El Guapo: I could bump into the old you and knock you down in the street today and never have a clue who I'd met. Who is/was that masked man?? And of course, you've had some really cool wheels back in the day. I'm just sayin' . . .

I got out of cars and out on the sea for a while. This is the Terica II, a yacht that Debbie and I sailed for 6 years for a private owner. We sailed her about 10,000 miles and docked 100's of times, with a 3 inch scratch the only damage. The moron that bought the boat in 2000 sank her in 3000' of water in the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2002. The red Amphicar was built in Germany and could drive down a launch ramp right into the water. It had twin propellers and could do 5 knots in the water and about 55MPH on land. It got a lot of looks too. Vince, you would have enjoyed some of the temporary crew members that my boss shanghaied! The pic of the bow is in the Bahamas with about 500 bottlenosed dolphins surrounding the boat. The pic of the boat is in Antigua for Raceweek. I was on one of the smaller yachts in Dickinson Bay that week.

Bob B.- sweet FJ, I'm guessing you did the Chevy 350 implant like I did. I miss that beater!

Hoss - you were cool even back then with your rides.

This thread is too funny!!
