JNC.....Wow !  I taught automotive there as a substitute back in 1977 when one of their regulars was off on medical for a while. They were in the  LA Community College System.  It was a great place to work too !  I still have paid sick leave I've never cashed in and it's still on the books !    It's things like this that I miss out on when I'm down here in Baja Mex.  Then again, I was diving yesterday in 85 F blue/clear water !

I saw one of my instructors at a Porsche get together in July and he was telling me the automotive dept at our CC was dealt a devastating blow by Covid. They’re having a hard time filling classes now and the old guys that ran the Hot Rod shop either died or retired, and their whole shop is now warehousing old equipment.
Really sad, it’s a beautiful multi million dollar facility with 10 or so lifts, a full paint booth, and 3-4 1,000ft sq prep areas, not to mention a tool room with every tool you could possibly imagine, including an engine dyno.

That's really sad.  I see it a lot out here too. Mechanics will be needed as long as cars are made and many years after. The technology has and is changing as always but someone always has to know how to repair or replace. Good mechanics/technicians are always in demand and so are the instructors to teach them. I still get calls from the LA Community College District Offices to teach various subjects but don't accept because I'm out of date now.  If it's just for one night I may go but I bring one of my preprepared lectures to get me thru the class for that night. I go back to basics and I'm always surprised at how little they know about them.......Bruce
