hi,

i think about to by a speedster kit from l&b, pilgrim or chesil.

all of the 3 manufactures offers two kind of kits:

a basic kit with the body and subframe, doors...

a deluxe kit with the same components, but the body fitted on the frame/chassis and the other body compenents fittet.

the difference is about 1.800,-US $, just for fitting the compenents.

what do you think. it is such a hard work to fit, or why is the price for this service such high? are there special promblems with fitting the body to the subfame?

thanks robert

My CMC came with doors and sub-frame mounted. Not sure effort for the subframe but the mounting of the doors is NOT to my standards --- I plan to pull them off and remount them for a more consistent body gap (plus they aren't flush either). I'd ask what they think the time needed to do the extra work would be for you --- then double it and figure out if you are worth more or less per hour. I can't believe it would take 36 hours ($50/hour).
thanks for your opinions.

i still think a like wolfgang.

is there anyone out there, who bought a basic kit and fit the body to the subframe by himself?

i am not afraid af fitting and adjusting the doors.., i made this before by another car, but i am not shure with the subframe....

I got my L&B Speedster basic kit with all parts a part. Fitting the subframe was easy as well as inner engine compartment panels etc. For front compartment I needed to bent the fenders a bit to get the hood fit before laminating inner part to the body. The big job was to make doors and lids fit. I'm not sure how well doors etc are fitted if you by a 'delux' kit. But I bought mine as basic couse wanted to make sure they will fit properly.
Take your time and prefit the parts.
It took time, but hey, it's a hobby...
