I ordered some new silver powder-coated steel wheels to replace my chrome wheels from Carey at Beck, and he mentioned that Tire Rack has 185/60-15 Pirelli P7 tires on closeout for $58 each. These may be a bit too soft for me, so I will go with something else. Can't wait to get my wheels though.

Those powder-coated wheels will take the 'coolness factor' of your car to a whole 'nutha level!
When you say too soft, do you mean mushy-like handling?
Not "mushy." Too soft in that they'll wear too quickly. Of course only driving a few thousand miles a year, I'll probably have to replace tires due to age than wear, but I don't want to have to replace them after 3 years. Carey thought that I'd get a couple of years out of them.
Jeff, there is no such thing as too soft. Especially with the lightweight car. Pure performance 15 inch tires are disappearing in the USA. Grab them while you can.
You'll get 15,000 miles out of those unless you are autocrossing.
" ...I'll probably have to replace tires due to age than wear..."
You hit the nail on the head; if that's the size you're running then go for it. If you're putting 5,000 miles a year on the car then you'll be wearing them out about the time they start to get hard. If your mileage is less, you won't wear them out. As Marty said, finding 15" summer performance tires isn't getting any easier...Al
I found that the rear tires will wear on the inside edge due to the camber settings ... thus you'll change the rear 2 times to the front once... and yes they will dry out sooner while your still looking at good tread in front as the car is very light.
Having them wear out quickly is a small price to pay for good performance tires. If you'll only get two years out of a set buy two sets. Tires are good for 8-10 years. You'll wear out both sets before then.
$59 for a decent performance tire is a great price.
