Well here is one (maybe) for the East-coasters. In July, says here:

Now, I do not think they will allow our cars in the race -- which is REALLY too bad, since I know the course they run on and it would be TFA!!! Ran my old 35A over these roads back in the day . . . Anyway, I already asked and they said no, BUT, if you look over the website this Vintage GP thing takes about a week to do all the stuff they hold here and there, and they have a show field, and the guy in charge thought we could "participate" there. So, the call is going out to any/all within striking distance of Pittsburgh: could we gather our forces and storm this bastion (?) of snobby authentic old and extremely cool cars?? Whaddaya say??

A quick search yielded this statement from SVVSSA: (susquhanna valley chapter)

Silhouette Cars: Cars built to appear as period reproductions,
and lack the construction techniques and mechanicals of the originals that they replicate, are generally not permitted.

They might allow 1 .
But dont tell them we wanna STORM the place with 20 !!

"construction techniques and mechanicals of the originals that they replicate"

I'd say my Speedster, and most around, would pass this criterion w/ ease. The orignials were, by and large, VWs, and so is mine. And if the Zuffenhausen bunch had known how to use FG, I'm betting they would have.

No harm asking, and I have done so. The head man suggested that the "show field", whatever that is, would be best, so that sounds about right to me. And he did say: "No, not in the race." And I get that, although it would be fun beyond description.
We've been to the vintage race in Schenley park a couple of years. A super venue with alot of vantage points and all free. Take your camera! Like many vintage events, you can even wander through the pits. A number of original 356 coupes and some Speedsters. There is also alot happening on the showfield but I don't recall seeing many (any?) replicas.
