Prefect for home surgery projects!
I know this is pretty elementary but here's the step by step. Think this tape works pretty well. I really don't think its going anywhere.

Nicely done.

All those years of medical training have really paid off. Now you can get a job in an upholstery shop.
Looks great.
You were right, an Xacto knife, Xactly what you needed.

Just looked at pics of a real 356.
But I repainted a Corrado once, and removed all the foam tape on the emblems and replaced it just like Phil here. I used Würth emblem tape, thin, black foam just like original VW. Yes it was a bit of work, but WAY cheaper than buying new emblems.
Phil, what was that 3M double adhesive tape called and where were you able to find it?
Thanx, Michael

Got mine from Amazon.com
There are other tapes that are stronger as below. But I thought that a clear tape would work better than a white or black tape.
3M Commercial Graphics also has a VHB (very high bond) tape used to hold metals, plastics, etc. in outdoor sign applications. Once fully cured this double sided tape would be extremely difficult to remove, but has great peel and shear strength.

just a thought about fitting these emblems and if the pins are to short ,why not apply some silicon sealer into the drilled holes this should secure them without using the clips ok. I recon this method will be for me.

That method does work as long as the emblem is going on a smooth flat surface and can be taped in place until the silicone sets up...doesn't work so well if the emblem is going on a curved surface though, it seems one side or the other of the emblem then has a tendency to lift away. I used this method using a 3M clear silicone emblem adhesive to mount all the badges, etc. on the Cobra and it has held the emblems and badges on the car now for almost 12 years since I did a total rebuild/repaint of it.
