Plate holders with "dog ears"

I have seen several photos here of members that have license plate holders with the "dog ears" to attach the county and expiry month/year to so that you don't damage your personalised plates.

I have recently order personalised plates and would like to do the same when they finally arrive. I have searched everywhere I can think including ebay (and let's face it, you can buy ANYTHING on ebay) and can't find these anywhere. Does anyone have a lead on where I can get one of these bad boys?

In CA. you can't use the "dog ears" on any current (modern)license plate. CA law states that the month and year tabs will be affixed to the plate. 5204VC. Personalized plates don't qualify for the dog ear tag holders.

Those dog ears you've seen are reserved for vehicles that legally are allowed to use a 1956 or earlier license plate. DMV actually issues the tag holders when someone legally completes the process to use historical plates. Since no special construction replica car in California is legally allowed to have a historical license plate, then it becomes your choice as to the legality of the use.
