I'm living in NM and have relocated to a new house with a third garage that is crying "Speedster" and better still, my wife likes the idea. So, as a TOTAL newbie, who's read alot of threads here, what's the majority say as to the new or used question and why?

Many thanks in advance!! Dennis

Dennis, if you have never owned a car like this and are testing the waters, try a used one first. If it turns out that you like it, you can resell without losing much money plus you will be in a better position to determine what you really like; maybe you will decide that these cars are not for you. Then again maybe the used example will fit your needs well and then you will be good to go.

Lots of the guys on this site have started with a used Speedster, myself included. I don't think that I would have recognized what I really wanted and needed without that first experience, which, by the way, was a pretty good one.

Dennis, welcome to thie wacked out world my friend... What Hoss said is right on the money... I personally brought used and that was by the instruction of Kirk Duncan.. who happens to own Vintage Speedsters... Here I am looking to spend 20K on a new car, then the freaking OWNER of the company says heah, wait one minute, if you have never owned this type of car you may consider a used one and test the waters. When he told me that I thought man what a great guy... Here he is trying NOT to sell me a car, then he tossed me the keys to his wifes car and said go ahead and take it for a ride... OMG this NEVER happens in a dealership! LOL... And to this date I still share that story and that is one major reason I respect him and his company so much, and for that matter most of the ding-bats that share their experanices here too! This place rocks... Good luck to you on whatever you decide!

P.S. I've owned mine a little over a year, March 21st. and I'm STILL loving it!

Dennis,
Vince here, I do have a speedster for sale, and I also recommend buying used the first time, these little jewel's are not for everyone, and to spend 25K or more is a hard lesson to learn.
You can buy a used one, save 10K and not lose any money if you decide you don't like the speedster experience....
I suggest coming to Paso Robles with the wife in 2 weeks, it may cost you a few hundred bucks, but that should really make your decision much easier to make.
My wife is not happy with my decision to sell my speedster, but I need the funds, to finish my new project, You could help me out by buying my Harley, that would give me the funds I need and it will make my wife happy.
Oh, Gerd, Can't wait to see you next week, I owe you a drink...
the bike....10,500 the speedster 16K
