Alexander - You address a sore point in the US economy. We don't tax foreign imports enough - with most nations we have free trade with the thought that they will buy more from us than we do from them. Guess with current low US$ value that is true to certain extent --- but we have a huge trade deficite since we import more than we sell. A side result is the loss of US jobs to cheaper producers (and polluters) like China and Mexico. It is virtually impossible to buy stuff in US that is actually made in US - be it cars, clothing, electronics, food. Was in Home Depot other day and they had concrete paving stones made in China --- now how can it be cheaper to produce in China and ship all the way here and still price to make a profit? There used to be steel and textile mills along the east coast of the us --- not any more!
