I think it really depends on what year it was registered as. Cars weren't required to have backup lights in the fifties. Most of the safety stuff was starting in the 60s: Seatbelts(then 3 point shoulder mounting point), padded dash, backup lights, 4ways(hazards), no more protruding knobs on dash, dual-circuit brakes. Then it went on from there in the 70s.
