Goodlooking car Paul!

I'm not really sure but I'm PRETTY sure that it's the 8 1/2" version you'd want.

The Porsche insignia was almost a neverending saga of change, even within the 356 family of cars.

If you go to a site with a lot of photos of original cars you can find ways to compare the sizes of insignia to the sizes of known objects - a US license plate, for example is such a known object. Find a photo with both the insignia and a plate and you'll have your answer.
I have the book "the 356 Porsche - a restorer's guide to authenticity"
From what I read in there the Script on the earlier 356 were the same length front and rear, it was in late 1959 when the 356b came out that the script was about an inch longer than the older models. it also says that it was mostly the "Drauz" cars (convertible D) in 1958 -1959 that had the script up front and Reutter had mostly stopped putting them on the front, and that front scripts weren't used at all after 1960.

According to the 356 registry this may hep with proper placement..
