Well, I fell into a good deal! I sold my 993 Turbo, for 14k more than I paid for it. I guess those air-cooled turbo's have appreciated abit. Great car, very expensive to maintain. So I decided to buy a 2009 Porsche GT3 with 7000 non track miles from a local guy who lives in the town that I practice in. Got a great deal on it, White, sport chrono, sport seats, etc etc.... It will be tracked. The car is AMAZING!...... May bring it to Carlisle.

Good for you, Howard! The car of choice for the Rolex series!!

I've driven a GT3 at NHIS and at Summit Point and, once you get used to the fact that you ALWAYS seem to be going faster (sometimes a LOT faster) then you thought you were, they're simply terrific cars to drive hard. Find a driving instructor who KNOWS Porsches and have a ball!

gn

( I can just see Howard with his GT3-driving client in his dental chair. Howard hauls out this REALLY BIG anesthesia needle and calmly says: " And how much did you say you wanted for that Porsche??" )
Gordo, It was more like the scene in Marathon Man, where Sir Lawrence Olivier was "coaxing" information from Dustin Hoffman. I think the refrain was "is it safe".... Oh yes VERY safe, wouldn't believe how safe..... Oh a nice fresh exposed nerve.... you should have taken better care of your teeth..... Basically the same type of negociation..... just replace how safe with HOW MUCH... you get the idea.
Howard, that's great! I don't know how you managed to make money on the old car, but I'm glad you did.

I know your back would appreciate the upgrade in comfort if you decided to bring the new ride to the show, and there'd be a pile of us who want to see it, but don't rule out someone else maybe driving the blue car to the show ... That would be criminal ...

Bob, nice one!
The TT 993 had 40k miles, clean car. Money was needed to pay off divorce settlement. Hate those stories, but I got it at below market price. These cars seem to have appreciated recently. Ive been an air-cooled guy all my Porrsche career. This is my 1st truly modern one. I got a good deal. Car was local, clean, showroom conditionb. I may take it to Carlisle. Maybe I can trailer LA Bomba. Hope to see you ALL soon. Hey Felix, whats going on with those Saints?????
A little too much machismo for the NFL's liking. They'll be back.

Now let's see some pics of your new 3 alongside your IM. As great as the new cars are in terms of performance, they still can't beat the style of the old tubs.

Took the photos below of my old IM and a new Boxster with the same color scheme. IMO, the style of the old car wins hands down.

Howard,
You might want to check your VIN on the GT3. The 997.1 GT3 was built from 07 to 08 and the 997.2 GT3 was built from 10 - 11. They didn't build any GT3s in 09 due to an engine, suspension, front and rear bumper revisions.

Not to throw fuel on the fire - but I never heard of a 09 GT3. If it is a 3.6L motor it is a 07 or an 08. If it is a 3.8 motor it is a 10 or an 11.

Congrats on the car. I have a GT3 RS and these cars are unbelievable to drive.
