I'm gonna put this up for sale on TheSamba, but thought that I'd check here first in case anyone was looking for something like this:

The white spots and such in the pics are just reflections, not flaws.

Essentially it's a genuine (with Porsche lettering at the top) hub cap crest fitted to an Oval Window Beetle horn button assembly. Works great and looks pretty "factory" cool. It'll fit for any steering wheel with a 2.25" center hole, but would be PERFECT for anyone using a Bat Wing Beetle steering wheel for a wonderful vintage look.

$35 shipped (in USA) if anyone wants it.

Thanks-

Oh, Dale. If you're using in a nine bolt wheel like the Moto-Lita and such, the assembly will drop inside the hole. But if you're running a trim ring/collar on the wheel I can fashion you a nice thin aluminum piece that will fit between the trim collar and the wheel without really showing and have the correct size hole in the center for the horn button. This will seat the horn button assembly nicely, just a bit recessed into the collar with 0.025" around it. I can polish the thin aluminum piece or paint it nicely with Krinkle finish black, depending upon whether you have a wooden or black leather wrapped steering wheel to make the 0.025" look factory fresh and intentional.

Just offering, maybe?
I'll make the "adapter collar" over the weekend and take a pic of it installed in a nine bolt wheel with the horn button inserted.

What manufacturer made your wheel? There are two nine bolt wheel patterns, one for the Moto-LIta, the other for the Formuling, if you post the maker of the wheel, I'll know which pattern was used. Best would be to take a close up pic of your wheel and post it here with a link or whatever.

And lemme know whether you want it polished or krinkle black finish. Polished looks best with a wood wheel, black compliments a black wrapped wheel, but it's up to you, really.

I made the collar . . . and lost it almost immediately.

Honestly. I debated on the color, raw aluminum or satin black, decided on brushed aluminum and a satin clear coat. Set it down and dusted both sides, went back to grab it for a last test fit and it had entered the Twilight Zone. Gone. Lost forever.

I was planning on doing up another but mt heart just went out of it, you know. Too much work wasted.

If you want the button, lemme know where to send it, I can get it out on Monday for you.
Do you have the original Grant GT button or are you looking for one?

Do you want a different center section for the GT button with a Porsche crest or MOMO emblem or something more along those lines?

If you already have the GT button, send it along and I'll replace the center section with whatever you want.

If you don't have the original GT button, I probably have one here somewhere.

Just lemme know, OK?
I have the original button, but think I would like to replace it with something in a more appropriate color. Clear acrylic over guard-switch-cover maroon would be nice, or perhaps a simple acrylic-over-safety-orange button.
The Grant job is all nicked up, and I'm probably going to rehab therest of the wheel in the next few weeks.
Thoughts?
