The purest in me won't let me get past the gauges on either.
CMC/Fiberfab/early IM's
They'd be good starting point for someone. It's hard for me to tell what makes the latter one worth 5k more than the other. The Key Largo car needs to have it's engine compartment sealed before it roaches that motor. Yowza!
Hopefully someone makes them a reasonable offer. I'd love to see more happy speedster owners.

Decent pricing for a hop in n drive but for a refurbish way too much $
I think Ted Vernon owns at least one of those two red speedsters. If he doesn't own it now, he used to.

This made me laugh out loud. You drive a replica.
There is nothing pure about these cars.
/facepalm.
Great deal for someone.
I know Jeff! I wonder why guys will do aluminum interior panels and replicate the twin fuel pumps next to their left leg in Spyders...
But I have wide5s and an original style handbrake, so go figure.
Certain things I'll replicate, but in the end who cares, it's a REPLICA!
Guys who put real Porsche parts on a replica give me a chuckle. It's like putting a real Rolex glass face on a fake (replica) Rolex.
Having said that.....each to their own, I guess.

I can't afford a real one so I try to make mine as close as possible to the original. Personally I like period correct and if I can get away with a few upgrades under the hood or better braking and handling I'll opt for that. Overall when you look at my car you have to look pretty close to see that it is a replica.

Look at it this way........The Replica is what they would've built back then if they could have, i.e. better materials (no rust), more power, better brakes, better performance, handling, weather equipment, etc. Sounds like a win-win! Keep the period looks, and improve the rest!
Do we really have to re-hash this replica vs. real again? Can't we just enjoy our cars in our own way?
Now how about an oil recommendation?
Not re-hashing anything Art, I'm just saying that we all drive replicas and we aren't fooling anyone because if it were real we wouldn't be driving it. I see cobra's and speedsters everywhere were I live and we all know they are fake but we all still love them. Mine is a CMC widebody so I know I 'am not fooling anyone but I love it.
I drive it, like I stole it.
Passer-by questions Musbjim @ car event;
"Why a replica"?
Musbjim: "They're kinda like breast implants. Most everybody knows they're fake, but they're still nice to look at, and waaaay more fun than the originals"!
Passer-by:
"How much did it cost you"?
Musbjim: "Tell me your annual salary and I'll tell you if you can afford it".
MusbJim you said it best.
I love the fake breast reference. Perfect analogy.
Hmmm. I've been thinking of what I could put on my new licence plate...

"Tell me your annual salary and I'll tell you if you can afford it".
..... that's hilarious ! Mind if I borrow that line?
Mubjim hit the nail on the head. Plus, if I had a salary that would afford a $200,000 original, I still wouldn't buy it. A nice sailboat to escape on, yes. Plus you can get another injection to pump the fakes up once age and gravity sets in. It's all how you look at it.
I haven't put original parts on but I have grabbed the good Hella etc. electrical where possible. Have the original lenses (EBay) and tail lights that were in the package from 60 something.
Bob, if your name was Jim you could put something along the lines of Silicone Valley,
