I finally got all the parts for my build of a Carrera 547 4 cam Porsche engine. I’ve got the case together and the pistons and the crank installed but haven’t put the heads on yet. I’m sure timing will be a problem. Has anybody done one of these?

We're all a bit more plebeian than that.
I'd be super-interested in some pictures, though-- you know, to live vicariously through them.

That looks incredible! Please show us video of it running.
$255 - Porsche Carrera – rennmotor: 4 Zylinder boxermodell VOM Typ 547
@IndianBob's build is going too slow for my curiosity. Spoilers ahead:
I'd love to get my kids to build this.
Bought mine in November, it has been kicking my a** since. Last time I worked on it I may have lost some of the valve springs (careful they are extremely small and fine) it may end up just a static non-running model. 😣

You could try using springs from ball-point pens. I took all the springs and put them in a little box and set it aside. One thing about this model engine, it’s put together without glue using little tiny screws so it could, theoretically, be taken completely apart and put back in little bags and re-sold to be built again. When I was a kid I built the visible V8 model which got me to be an auto mechanic and eventually a body and paint man. I recommend any kid to get one of these visible engines, I have two left to build, one is a Harley Twin Cam 98cu in model visible engine and the other is just an S & S EVO 88 cu in clone visible engine. I usually do stuff like this in the winter when I can’t ride my bike.
Mine is still in the box...
You build enough stuff, C.
Yeah, Carey doesn't need any distractions right now. He has a coupe to build.
Hey word to the wise. I ordered one of these 4-cam model engines in early April from an online vender called Flat Six Fanatics, email sknandigam@gmail.com
Never heard a word from them after that, despite several polite queries.
I took it up with PayPal which sent notice today that they're refunding my cash. So PayPal did right.
No idea what Flat Six's problem was or is, but their website still has the item listed for sale. FYI
edsnova, Glad you got your money back. Update on my build - I haven’t done anything on the model since my last post. 😳
I bought a later-model pinion nut(transmission) tool via the internet but used PayPal. I got a refund after 4 weeks of non-response. The scumbag scammer never got my money. PayPal is great, I do a LOT of transactions through them.
I was pleasantly surprised. This was the first time I'd been (almost) ripped off in many years of online shopping.
Yeah e transactions without an escrow service or semi escrow like PayPal Is real danger
btw Never buy a car or anything after the auction ends on eBay because you have no protection ask me how I know

I use it for anything I can. I take CC payments with it. I pay my employee with it (friends and family).
PayPal has changed how I do business.
Yeah if your a business PP has become more bank like than ever offering lower fees to a lot of different business types.
Even text to give has become an industry by itself for charitable donations.
Small business groups also have special rates that sometime rival big big companies. Just saying.
There's always a swipe fee, which I pass along if somebody wants to pay with a card.
The F/F option for payroll is 100% free and instantaneous.
up here swipe fees are contractiually verboten .
We sold a ton of storage to Confinity that became X.com which later became Paypal (this was 1998 - 2001 or so) which later became part of eBay. There was a large bunch of founders who couldn't deal with the culture after paypal was sold to eBay and they bailed in droves. THAT was a very interesting group, mostly Stanford grads and they went on to found a slew of well-known tech companies.
Do a wikipedia search for "PayPal Mafia". Interesting read.
I take credit card payments via Quickbooks but I call it a Credit Card Convenience Fee. I get charged 3% but I only pass on 1.5%. I figure it's a convenience for both of us. If paying me cash I allow them to deduct the fee. So I guess it's all in how you word it.
