Sure thing, Olie:

These are from a CMC body that I've not yet cut the holes out of. There are scribe lines in the fiberglass gel coat as a guide for cutting and that's what I used for measurements.

If you would like, since the holes are sort of odd shapes, I could make a template rubbing which you could tape onto your car for more accurate cuts (you can use the stud hole measurements for placement). Just email me with a land-mail address. The added benefit of a template is you can test fit it to the tail light assembly to make sure the hole's right before you start cutting on your car.

OK, so here are the measurements (sorry, didn't think to do them in metric):

Find the center of the engine cover opening and then snap a chalk line from the center of the opening down to the bottom lip of the car body.

From that centerline, the inner tail light mounting stud hole is 16" away, either left or right, and 10-1/2" up from the bottom lip.

The outer two studs are:

Bottom Stud: 21-3/4" from the centerline and 9-3/4" up

Top Stud: 21-5/8" from the centerline and 10-1/2" up

Let me know if this is enough or you need more. I can also re-do in metric, if necessary.

Cheers!

Gordon

OBTW: the Fiberfab assembly manual (use the later one, version "B") has measurements for the license plate light. It should be up under the "Library" tab at the top of this page.
Yeah, my speedster body was recently buried in attic insulation:

But I've now moved the insulation to my attic and can get around the body once more, so producing a template of sorts will be relatively easy (compared to putting all that fiberglass insulation up in the attic - I'm still itching!!!)

If you want one, just send me an email with your mailing address so I can send it to you and it'll be done.

Where are you in the UK?

Gordon

(That's me, next to Pearl, my 'speedstah', at the Carlisle, PA, Kit car show a few years back. She now has polished Fuchs rims as in the second pic.)

You know - I just noticed that I have two pictures taken two years apart, and Wild Bill's "Blackie" is in the background in BOTH shots!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Are these two cars going steady?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Hi Gordon I live in Cheshire ,half an hour from Liverpool & half hour for Manchester & 500 yard from a castle an pub .Your speedsta looks good ,how many do u have ? alot of US speedsters seem to have roll bars ,is this just a saftey thing or is it something else ?do all your kits have to go & get a saftey inspection ? in UK we do & it costs us over
Olie: Yup - know where Cheshire is (should have looked closer at your info on the left). In the summer I live in Grafton in Masachusetts, close to Worcester, Leicester, Spenser and on and on (we even pronounce them right!)

Looks like you'll be busy on your car this Winter!

I have two speedstahs - the Pearl White one you've seen, as well as a gel-coat Red one with the same body style. That one's in the shop getting put together so my son can install an Audi 1.8T water-cooled, just to be a little different.

A lot of US speedsters seem to have roll bars because we think they look cool (plus, many of us have CMC cars and bought the roll bar option ). Good thing, too, because they're mostly decorative and wouldn't hold up much of anything in a roll-over.

Safety inspections vary a great deal from state to state here. Some states have an inspection akin to what you have to go through in Cheshire, while others (like my state of South Carolina) don't have anything (honest!) I think California and Pennsylvania are probably the toughest - others states vary all over the place.
