The big city of Clay's Corner, North Carolina will host the annual New Years Eve Possum Drop. PETA is attempting to halt the fun festivities. Maybe an Occupy Possum Drop will take place tonight!

Come on Down for a little mountain fun! Be early, the expected crowd is to be in the neighborhood of 3000! Ain't bad for a town of around 250.

Just moved to FL panhandle - Pensacola has the Pelican Drop which is probably our shined by Mobile AL Moon Pie drop (a 55 # Moon Pie). Having moved here from Metro DC area I was surprised DC didn't do something creative - like run the politician up the flag pole (vs down it). Voters could nominate most deserving - Barney Frank would be my vote.
