Paul, I can relate to your 'fun' with the Z28. Recently, I came on to the freeway with a large Toyota SUV (Sequoia)on my ass (I was driving my 911 pickup). He pulled into the fast lane and tried to go by me. I put the hammer down in third gear, and went to 7000 rpm, then shifted into fourth and pulled away. Unlike you, I had to back off at 90 mph, instead of 135 mph, although 90 mph felt like 150 mph!! I'd just shifted into 5th and she was pulling strong, but I ran out of nerve. I wonder if the guy was thinking, "What the hell was that?"

I have done the same thing in my company bus, but TOWING MY BUG BEHIND ME! Until you have had a bus to 105 or so MPH with a beetle behind you, you haven't experienced fear!
On one occasion a few years ago a Mustag driver overheated his engine and went home on a tow truck after trying to spank me in the mountains.... Just so happened he was the owner of the local Ford dealership and the car was brand new!
Like the old saying goes
"What do Tampons and Radiators have in common??? every ****y needs one!"

I remember running up in the draft of a semi in my 68 almost stock VW camper and swinging out to pass him, hoping I had built up enough momentum to get past the bow wave. Life on the interstates.
