yeah, I agree with ALB, that stinger is going to be loud. Now it is possible to put a baffle style tip on the stinger like this;
http://www.summitracing.com/pa...p-449-2518/overview/ I used a Supertrapp on my 72 VW Type 1 engine with a stinger exhaust for drag racing, and it did not reduce engine power or diminish my 1/4 mile times - but it did lower the exhaust noise from my stinger.
Bottom line - the noise might sound cool at first, but when you are riding around town and you can't hear your passenger or your radio, then the noise factor begins to be somewhat of an irritant.

A lot of guys are using sidewinder systems; http://vwparts.aircooled.net/A...-swht112-swht158.htm they're properly constructed (look at the comparison pics on the page of a cheaper made collector), made specifically for our cars (check the "vehicle application" drop) and there's a couple of different muffler/tailpipe choices, including a center exit. They're not cheap, but you do get what you pay for...
The thing you don't mention is engine size and specs; 1 5/8" tubing is pretty big, and unless the motor is big enough to use it, the power under the curve (everywhere but peak) will suffer, and this will affect mileage as well. For example, with a 6,000 rpm redline you'd have to be running at least 2100 cc's to properly utilize tubing that large. Anything smaller and you're better off (for best all around power and mileage) to use a 1 1/2" header.
Can't help with tire sizes. Al
