At the risk of creating more bidders (no, I really shouldn't bid!!!!!!), I make note of this offering on eBay and what appears to be pretty solid 912. Anyone out in the Alhambra, CA care to run over within the next 48 hours and do a hands-on inspection? (eBay Item number: 180727367541)

This car has had some paint work, but it's a desirable color, 5 guage dash (I think it was standard by that time), Fuchs - always desirable. Obviously the decklid needs repainted pretty pronto. Interior is run down. Those are VERY expensive door pockets to buy - best to go the fiberglass route. It's also LWB, which seems to sell for more money than the earlier SWB cars.

Looks like a very solid car and that counts for a lot. Plus the pretty color is going to flip alot of switches.

You guys know I'm not a 912 fan, so I wouldn't pay any kind of dough for any kind of 912 except to put it under the sawzall. That said, I think that car is going to head down the road around $12,000...

You can buy a good 911 SC for that dough.

By the way - Vince? Terry is beautiful. I hope you tell her that every day. Well, judging by her smile, you're telling her SOMETHING she likes to hear - LOL!

I don't know much about gooses, but yes I am a car addict...
If I had a storage building, I'd still have that 912, and a few others that aren't around any longer....I'm down to the basic 4 at this time, and my plan to retire in January will most likely certail any additional purchases in the future...Oh the humanity...

I will however give up my first child when this new Caddy comes out...might even give up two...

BUY AMERICAN....we don't produce much any more, so buy it when you can....love it or hate it, it's where you live....
The beach area around me is nothing but BMW's and Mercedes, it's pathetic....
The Corvette is an American Icon, and seems to be getting better as time goes on, so if the new Caddy is based on the Vette, that's OK with me...look at that focker, its amazing...looks like the new Lambo's..
at what i assume will be a fraction of the cost, since a CTS-V is under 50K
SWB - short wheel base (68 and older 911/912). LWB - long wheel base, 1969 and newer.

Most people want the LWB but with the 4 cylinder, short is fine and sometimes you pick them up for less $$$. Very little engine overhang so the handling didn't suffer at all with the SWB compared to the same year 911. Those were pretty ass-happy.

There's a guy on the Pelican site that is building a 912 with a POLO motor... Definately a money-is-no-object build. Should be a dang rocket ship.

Absolutely insane money... NO I've never talked to him. I know what I can't afford - LOL! Still, like fine art, I can look, admire, even drool a bit all the while knowing it will never be mine -right?

This blue car is still at 10K with a day to go, but there are quite a few bidders on it. Might get silly in the last couple of hours.

Whoever the idiot was who made about 13 incremental bids drove the price way up in his/her "desperation", and then a smarter player came in at the last minute with a bid large enough to cover any other. Typical ebay sale.

I've been an ebay member/stockholder since 1998 and made a lot of money in those early years from it so probably shouldn't complain, but it still amazes me that there are people who can't get the reality that only the last bid wins.

$13K was an easy call, Angela, I nearly said $15K.
