Does anyone have any experience with seat tracks.

The driver seat of my Speedster was sqeaking a bit so I removed both seats. I noticed that one of the seat tracks had some play in it (between the upper and lower track). Play meaning when I pushed down on the upper track it was solid against the bottom track (like the other three tracks).

I pulled out a small piece that was embedded in the upper track. The piece had two bearings on it. I bent the piece a bit and reinstalled into the upper track. There's less play, but the upper and lower track still aren't solidly joined (you can push on the upper and it still moves a bit).

Anyone have any idea what the heck I am talking about? Any feedback on what could be wrong?

Thanks.

Dave

Hi Dave, I've noticed that no one has had any experience with the tracks. When I first started rebuilding the car removing the seat was a pain. Since the seat was bolted directly into the top track. What I decided to do was weld bolts on the top and bottom together. Now the seat complete with the two tracks slide off the rail complete off the floor. Much better and no slop. If you like I could take a picture and email it to you. Hope this helps.

Cheers
Dave, This is my first posting on this sight since I purchased my Speedster. I have a bit of experience with seats. I'm a seat engineer with a Tier 1 supplier. The root cause of your problem could be any number of things. Most likely you've hit on it though; the profile of the bearing bracket. The bracket or the track profile itself could be out. Tracks should fit fairly tight. In addition, any debris in the bearing area could cause the bearing not to roll properly and cause noise.
If your Speedster is this new, it sounds like a supplier quality warrantee issue, and the manufacturer should honor that.
I live in the Detroit area also, not to far from you, and would be happy to take a look.
