So. There I was, minding my own business, when all of a sudden and alternator with a voltage regulator in it appeared out of nowhere (Thanks, Warren!), leaving me little choice but to install it in my car.
You guys win. But there were some things that had to be done, first. For yous guys running Type IVs with Jake's shroud and generator stand combo, the generator stand has to be narrowed about a half-inch before you can mount one of those new-fangled gizmos on it; we did that today, and I thought I'd post the pictures.
Bon apetit.

Uh ... and I must be getting old. This guy Kevin (cool dude, indeed) dropped this off, too. Said he thought my old back might appreciate it.
I'll be leaving it installed for you old guys who wanna drive the Hoopty from time to time; PITA to take in out and put it back in, so I'll just save the effort.
I don't need it, nosirreee. Not me. If I want creature comforts, I'll call Henry.

Warren, do you need a 1300, by any chance? Tyler Larkin's got one, just sitting there. Used to be in his dune buggy. I think Jim's going to buy the buggy -- or we're going to go Dutch. The 1300 comes with it, gratis.
Hell, for $100, how bad can a pan-based, tube-caged buggy be? And the 1600 in it supposedly works (but the tranny's got problems).

Thanks again for the alternator. Take it out of me in labor, okay? I'll come with my tools in-hand when I visit to see the car.

For those still following my endless stream of Hoopty photo-essays, the first picture below is just a "before" to compare the "after" to. In the second, the alternator hasn't been cleaned up yet, but the wire placement might help someone out. Thought it couldn't hurt to stick a photo in the file.
The third picture makes me kind of wonder if it's possible to add a piece of Lexan into a conventional Speedster windshield frame; I think I could make a top work if I tried that.
