Proper Cable Length For Right Hand Speedometer

I’ve installed a VDO speedometer on the right side and had to put in a longer speedometer cable. Here’s what I found, hope it helps:

Folks here mentioned that the stock cable from Vintage Speedsters is either 1235 mm or 1266 mm. It turned out to be 1390 mm, which is from a Super Beetle. While the cable from a bus was way too long, a 1530 mm cable for a right hand drive (65 – 77 bug or 65-71 Ghia) works quite well. Good source is cip1.com.

I put the speedo on the left. Spyders were made that way, and the passenger had a hard time seeing the speed! LOL
