You don't have to remove the head to allow clearance for them to be installed.

In other words, they can be installed with the engine intact, still in the car, rather thapulling the engine, pulling the fan shroud, pulling the head and then installing the pushrods tube.

The good ones have a spring plus an o-ring between the sliding tubes to keep them from leaking. I've had good luck with them in the past.
