Are spring loaded pushrod tubes the same, or similair, to adjustable tubes in that they can be replaced without removing the head?

they both can be done without removing the head, the spring loaded ones are a bear to install because of the spring tension, spent a little more and get the adjustable ones. bill
buckwheat -- I don't disagree with you, but I don't have a problem installing the spring loaded tubes.
I have a pair of needle-nosed vice grips. I fully compress the springs with the vice grips. Then, line up the tube, release the vice grips; bingo.
as long as you get them in their. bill
I've been running the Jaycee spring loaded pushrod tubes for a few years now and love the fact that they don't leak a drop. Luckily I've never had to replace one but would imagine it would have to take a decent hit to damage one as they are pretty tough pieces.
Hi 56speedster...I'm wanting to replace my pushrod tubes...Tell me about those Jaycee ones and where to get them...Thanks Bob
Check them out here: http://www.jayceevw.com/products
My motor is setup with 1.4:1 rockers and the standard VW tubes that I used to run would get hit by the pushrod so I upgraded to the Jaycee and now have plenty of clearance but the best part is no leaks. Well worth the money in my opinion.
Thanks, I'll check them out...
I opted for red and blue when I ordered mine. Blue on the short piece and red on the long piece. They will mix match the colors if you like and since I had a red/blue theme going on in the engine compartment, I figured it would look cool and it does.
Those JayCee push rod tubes look nice, as do their other products. I don't mind paying more for quality products.
So they don't leak??? I'm running an A-1 Sidewinder with J tubes and I'm tired of smelling burning oil...I've taken care of the valve cover leaks.......
I have some of the JayCee tubes as well and they don't seem to leak.
I previously tried spring loaded tubes from another maker and wasn't as happy with them.

Not a drop - I've been running them for 3+ years now and not 1 single drop. My wife doesn't buy the "VW engines don't leak, they simply mark their spot" jargon and I myself hate cleaning up spots in my garage and driveway and I'm proud to say that I haven't had to clean up drips, drops or spots in a long time.
Knock off's are cheaper for a reason....you get what you pay for so as the saying goes - "pay me now or pay me later". I like it to hurt only once.
Very cool. Very sinister wide body.
Where in Maine are you?
I owe a winter visit to friends in Kennebunkport and then want to shoot up to Portland to see Doug Allen's Eberspacher gas heater in his speedster. Are you interested in peeking at the super neat installation he did?
