put the top up today

It was sunny and 41 in Chicago today and I finally decided to winterize the car. This is the 1st time I have put the top up since I bought the car.
Added Stabil and topped off the tank and took a little ride to the lakefront.
Pic was taken just south of the city at the 31st street beach parking lot.
Cover goes on tomorrow,I will miss walking in the garage and looking at the car.
It sure has been a joy.

Tom, I was there last year. It goes faster than you think. The holidays come, then the weather sucks, before you know it, it will be the end of March and you'll be driving again.

Tom, I do remember the put-away blues. This was my Speedster parked in the driveway of our Oak Park home. Take heart, the winter isn't forever and you'll be cruising on LSD before you know it.

I guess I shouldn't complain about the dreary 50s we had this weekend. That's close to as cold as it'll get here for the winter except for a few days here and there. Now I'm ashamed that I didn't get the car out and drive it despite the chill and clouds. I'm such a wimp.

Yeah, that was John's first Speedster. He sold that before the Red Man was built. I don't remember where Jack picked his car up from.

Ah, you Chicago guys, don't forget about me up here in Wisconsin. Since it is almost certain that I will have to miss Carlisle this year, the Rosie's Diner event is on my list of things to do this coming year. It should also give me a chance to see your new IM.

For sure Rich. Maybe we can get 3-5 cars running up there. Very cool! I want that picture in my office over my desk:-)

Marty, I've been toying with the idea of taking the Lake Express ferry, just to avoid the Chicago traffic. I know you're already there so maybe it's no big deal for you, but might make for a more fun trip. Just a thought.

Hi Marty, I would love to do the Diner trip. You are either going to have to give me a head start or tow me,I don't think I will be able to keep up with that new ride of yours.

Hello Rich. The ivory-colored VS in the picture, which I purchased a year old from a dude in Glen Ellyn in 2001, was my ride until the end of 2003 shortly before I ordered the Red Man. I sold it to a woman in Malibu, CA. I never heard from her after the sale so I don't know how well she liked it. It was built on a '68 VW pan. Nope, not Jack's car.

Rich, you can drive to my place and crash for a night. Then head NE to MI. You can avoid a ton of traffic this way. I can map it out for you. Then we can take 355 south to 80 and cut over. We can take a loop around Gary and come up through South Bend and avoid lots of traffic.

Well, it sounds like no ferry ride for you guys. There's actually two options, but the newer Lake Express high speed version leaves out of Milwaukee and drops you off in Muskegon. I've done the Badger but not the Lake Express:
