Finally finishing up on replacing 914? gauges and weird wood steering wheel in my CMC, see pics.  Now I'm moving on to getting the doors squared away.  There is quite a bit of slop in the hinges, which are not even bushed.  I can lift the door about 1/2" at the rear.  I have a machinist friend who I think would do a decent job of boring and installing bushings in the hinges I have, but I found the hinges pictured for $29 a pop at Vintage Speedster Parts.  I can't tell from the picture whether they are bushed or just have little washers in the joints.  Anyone have experience with these?  Found hinges for closer to $50 with another supplier (second hinge picture) but pretty much look the same.  Also, vintage sells exterior door handles for under $30 and I'm curious about the quality of those.  Mine are about as loose as the hinges where the button passes through the handle.  Advice?  Suggestions?

Thanks,

Craig

Looks like hinge was never lubricated (rust shown) that probably caused crack in where the hinges mount to car. Do your doors have opening stops?  (Maybe they were forced open too far and cracked seam?)  I'd repair fiberglass cracks with something like Gorilla hair after grinding old bondo stuff out. Then lubricate and push pin back and peen it so it doesn't move.  I suspect Vintage Speedster Parts is same quality you'd get anywhere - save for new VDO gauges from Beck and maybe IM trim bits.

New dash looks great - very authentic looking!  Hey, at least you didn't have the CMC VINTAGE gauges!
