Can someone please tell me the brand & model number of the twin carbs currently being put on the Vintage Speedsters.

I believe these are Solex---but I could be wrong---so the brand & model # would be appreciated.

Many thanks---Jack, hot springs

Jack,

This guy's the accepted expert on those carbs:

http://lowbugget.com/kadronpage.html

He'll talk forever about them and what he's done to them to make them run right. TONS of knowledge, knows just about everything, all of it great, but he's very slow to fill orders and such, so if you decide to buy any upgrades from him or have any work done, be prepared.

Surf through his web site for extra info and such, might be of some help.

Ricardo & TC--many thanks!--Now I can search for how to adjust them.

The lack of documentation on these replica cars is absolutely crazy.
No wonder folks dump them after 300-1000 miles. They can't even get the damned tires balanced!!!!

One of the smartest posts I've read on this site is that in addition to a great car, you are getting a hobby! So true.

I have recently spent about $600 on tools plus another $400 on upgrade things: pump/filter, degreed crank pulley, Upgraded plug wires, 3-4 special tools, Jack, jack stands, ramps, etc. plus the right books. I WILL master this car! But in order to do it I need the sort of good help I just got from Ricardo and TC. I am grateful to the many folks on this site who know the answers and are willing to share that knowledge.---Jack

Jack,
I have the same carbs on my old IM. About 2 weeks ago the car starting missing and sputtering pretty bad. When I removed one of the plugs it was covered in a cute little black fuzzy sweater. Long and short of it is the carbs are running very rich. After doing a little research and talking to Cory and his wrench I found that sometimes when two of these carbs are put on an engine the main jetting is left alone, which are often jetted for a single carb engine. If I recall the standard single carb jet is a 127.5. My carbs both have 130's in them which is way too rich. I have 115's on order and should have them by today. Once I put them in we'll see is it's any better? I went a little on the lean side because it'll be easier to open them up a bit if they're too lean. Just food for thought.
