Hi all,

I have currently the standard VW pull switch on the dash for emergency flashers and a double action standard VW switch for park and headlights.

I want to swap them for Bakelite black or white original type switches. Also considering an aluminum type..

And does anyone know a supplier?....

Or any photos or links to sites.

I only need a single action switch for the emergency flash but a double for lights - park then low beam on.

Appreciate any ideas, thanks in anticipation.

Posted this question in sale/wanted also....

Merry Christmas Bernie.

I purchased my single pole push pull switches over twenty years ago from Stoddard, now the same switches are pretty pricy. I needed a switch for my fog lights and found a close match From Summit Racing made by Dorman. I'm using single pole as my headlights and parking are on separate switches which allows me to run my city lights with the parking lights on. The stem of the switch (threaded part) has to be long enough to extend through the fiberglass and have enough thread left to catch the bezel.

Not to disagree, but I had to grind the back side of the dash to make one of my switches able to engage the screw on escutcheon. You can make most anything work. I used VW switches, old ones from a junkyard, as they are WAY better quality than the crap made today.

I used billet aluminum knobs, but they make black and ivory knobs too.

I too had to grind out the backside of the dash when I replaced my e-switch.

You can fashion a set of very convincing 356 dash knobs by using Karmann Ghia pop-out window knobs as a starting point.

Either sand off the high points along the top edge or fill in between them with JB Quick/filler and smooth them out. Spray with Krylon Almond or Ivory gloss, depending on your preference, and done.

The threads match those of the VW dash switches and they have a small set-screw to hold them firm.
