I just received a copy of the OE Vee Dub catalog (www.oeveedub.com) and they show an engine conversion for a (water-cooled) Vanagon to then use an in-line VW/Audi engine. The picture is pretty poor and I'm not sure for $4K if the engine is included or not (for that money it BETTER be!) but it might be an interesting conversion if it would fit in a Speedster.

Anybody have more info?

Yes the engine is included. Check out Tico.com . It's really pretty nice I have a Westy and was thinking of doing it. As far as it fitting it in a speedster I wouldn't know but anything is possible.
