Some of you commented on my tires. Here is my experience:

White Lettering is difficult and a pain - Period !

I used the rangerpaint, which is widely recommended and reasonable (most bang for the buck). However, it turns brownish and needs refinishing every 1 month (which I don't do). It also flakes, due to the bouncing of the rubber. So it is by far not as good as it promises if you actually drive your car.
There is other tire paint out there I have not tried, because of the cost. The only other things I tried is the pen (that sucked) and concrete paint (yes yes - just trying).

One tip I have: Don't do anything using stencils (it is often recommended)! It takes forever and has no advantage over the brush. Using the brush is easy as the "GoodYear" lettering provides a frame that limits the stroke.

Hope that helps

Dirk - I am TOTALLY digging on that car of yours!

WRT lettering, I was at the SEMA show a couple of years ago and there was a vendor that made tires that were totally customized. He had demo cars with tires that looked like snakeskin, another with a repair shop's logo, etc.

He also did inserts, like the whitewall inserts that are available for those who want to make their black-wall tires look like white-walled tires. Maybe he can do an insert with white Goodyear lettering. If I can find the flyer for that vendor i will post the website.
Look what just arrived today!

For all I know it could just be a can of white paint with a homemade logo on it. I plan on giving it a shot in the next week or two once the weather gets warm enough that I can stand being outside for a couple hours at a stretch.

Dirk,
I really hope you don't mind me totally ripping off your car. I was telling my buddy a week or so ago that I thought my car still had a little too much "cute" left in it. (I hate it when people say my car is "cute") And that I needed to "Man it up a bit". Your car pegged it!

I'll report for sure.
As for what it is? I can't say, or more accurately "it" doesn't say. It's just some product that I bought on ebay. There's a homemade lable on it that says White Wall Tire Paint on the front and something about not drinking it on the back, that's about it. I checked the feedback and it was all good (not that that is any kind of quality rating coming from ebayers). There is a guy in Iceland that folks were buying a similar product from and was getting good reviews on some of the hot rod forums. I couldn't get a response from him or his company via email so I figured I'd give this a shot.
I tried out the look of white letters awhile back and got mixed responses so I bagged it at the time, but after seeing it with the black wheels on your car it looks perfect and so now MUST be done on my car!
okay Paul - I'll give away all my secrets:

These are Goodyear Integrity 185s off a Prius :)
It's funny, because some people ask me where I got my race tires ! And I am thinking, 'can't get less racey then Prius, right' !?

185 is the widest that can fit on the 4.5 rim. The wider tire (stock is 165) though has a noticeable effect on the handling. The car feels heavier and less nimble, but on the good side it also feels more stable.

- it's the stock engine: 1600Super - 75hp
Very strange, I would have thought a Prius tire would have had a very low rolling resistance tire to maximize gas mileage. Usually, that type of tire is not so much for performance. Perhaps, in your application, the extra tire width over your stock tire makes up the difference? They are not "run flats" are they? Hey, whatever works is good.
