I know this seeme to be a popular topic these days: Now I have a noise coming from my engine! It has been there for about 3-4 weeks now and I first noticed it after having the valves adjusted, oil change, carb synch, etc.... It is a "metalic rattle" sounding almost as if something is loose. However it only occurs during acceleration and only under load (early stages of each gear), not in neutral and reving the engine? Once I ease off the accelerator and cruise it goes away. I took it in a couple weeks back and my mech. adjusted the points and it didn't really do anything. I took it in today, took my mechanic for a ride so he could hear it and when I picked it up tonight it's still there. Any ideas?

Seems that it was a loose nut rattling on the bottom plate of the air filter housing in the left carb. I think he felt kind of bad in that he did the last adjustment on them so he ended up doing all kinds of little touch ups to the engine compartment. He moved my fuel lines so they are now behind the fan shroud as well as a few other nice clean ups. The car runs strong and quite now..... and looks great!
