Well I just called it day, I just finnished the first coat, a couple of runs some orange peel will sand it lightly on monday an shoot a second coat. Its more a gulf blue than the azure I was trying to match. It looks good, and just before closing up the garage noticed a few light holidays but it looks great. To east coast Bruce,I bought that deck lid from Cary Hines a year or two ago, and the deck tonue from Riotech up in Oregon, two or three years ago. I will post some pics after I shoot the second coat. I will need to cure the paint a few days before puttin all the street stuff back on. I plan on two or three more coats after the Paso run. I am going to coler sand and put on my meatballs on and that will finnish this years project in time for the Oregon Campout at Emory's. I will be in great company with all those wonderful Outlaws.
West coast Bruce, I will coming up for the camp out so I will droppng by to say hello. Looking forward to the Paso trip ,I will only get to stay for just for one day for the show, I have to be in San Pablo on sunday its a family thing and I couldn't say no.
see all of you at Pasa Robles.
Ray: Short note on paint color;

Back in the early 70's I was building a '46 Ford coupe Street Rod while still in college. Had it sand blasted off-chassis, and then painted the chassis in the fall of '73 and got everything back together. I was fighting the calendar as I headed toward my College Senior final exams, AND was getting ready to get married the first week in January, '74.

Sprayed on the primer the week after Christmas (My dad had a big heated garage and I was in there), but then it turned colder than the heater could keep up with for a week. Finally decided to paint it the day of my wedding (no, I'm not making this up - ask Kathy, my wife!)

Left the heat on all day Friday and got up at 4am on Saturday to start painting my Lincoln-Mercury "Buff" color, which was supposed to be the sandy-beige color of a 1-cream coffee.

Started with the left rear fender and sprayed it on......."Geez! This stuff looks PINK! But....maybe it's just the light..."

Kept on spraying until I had the entire side done, then stepped back and looked......"S.O.B!!! It really looks PINK! Well, wedding's at 5pm and it's now 9am with two more coats after this....too late now.....keep spraying!"

So it turned out sort-of a pinky beige. Certainly one of a kind.....added a Walnut-colored interior - looked pretty good in the end.

Oh, and Kathy? She's a Saint for still putting up with me and my hobbies - now after more than 33 years!!
