Howdy,
Currently my VS has a banjo wheel on it...And I'm contemplating putting a nice old Nardi wheel I've had for years on it. When purchasing a conversion hub kit for it...What steering column shaft would I be purchasing it for? VW? Porsche? In other words...What steering column does VS use?

Best Regards,
Dean B

It depends onthe steering column you have. Even on my 914, a 1971 is not the same as a 1972-4. Depending on how the replica you have is built and what part bin they pulled from (the VIN on the chassis might give you a clue as to what car (hopefully column was maintained)was canabalized to make yours.

There are hundreds of MOMO adapters for example.

Dean,
The easiest thing to do is take off your wheel and count the splines on your column. I know I went through a few adapters before I figured out which year my column was.
99% positive your VS has a VW steering column. Kirk at Vintage may be able to give you some better specifics. Nardis are pretty popular on replicas as are banjos. I had a banjo and didn't like it. I found it too flimsy. The Nardis are nice.

Oh, I'm gatherin' flowers from the hillside
To wreath around your brow,
but I've waited so long for you darlin'
That those flowers have all wilted down.

Well you swore that you'd always be faithful,
you swore that you'd always be true,
but one day you showed up with the "measles",
when you left honey, I had'em too.....

You broke my heart when you married
and I swore I would wait for you then,
But my faith in myself
is all shot to hell,
cuz you've gone off and married again.

Oh, I'm gatherin' flowers from the hillside
To wreath around your brow,
but I've waited so long for you darlin'
That those flowers have all wilted down.

Holy Cow! I found it! Listen here> http://www.brownanddana.com/album.php

Click on "Gatherin Flowers" - it's worth a listen, just for Garrett Brown's incredible, reverse rotation, finger pickin' (that's for Jack!)

BTW: Garrett Brown went to Tufts University and Invented (I believe) the "Steady Cam", now used everywhere in films and videos, and the "Sky Cam" at football games.
